Located in Lahey Clinic Medical Center's
department of radiology, the suite was programmed to provide, within the overall radiology department,
a dedicated mammography area - one with a particular emphasis on patient comfort, convenience, and
operational efficiency. The suite consists of a reception area and a patient changing area equipped
with changing rooms, a private gowned area and lockers for safekeeping valuables. The gowned waiting
area, in a departure from Lahey Clinic general finish standards, is designed to provide an attractive
'residential' type setting where pre-exam and post-exam waiting and educational video can take place
in as familiar an environment as possible. The exam rooms are provided with subdued indirect lighting
and attractive wall decorations. Three of the four exam rooms are carpeted for esthetic effect and
sound control. Also included in the suite are a radiologist reading room, a film processing area,
and mammography tech area equipped with computer stations and film storage areas.
