SALEM STATE COLLEGE

Salem State College's Sullivan Building in Salem, MA

Nilsson + Siden Associates, Inc. is thrilled to have partnered with Salem State College for the visionary renovation of the historical Sullivan Building in Salem, MA. Our team worked closely with the college to reimagine the space, creating a modern, dynamic environment that promotes learning and collaboration.

Reconfiguring the Space

The renovation project tackled reconfiguring the existing first floor, focusing on upgrading classrooms, a seminar room, a computer lab, and academic and administrative offices for the History Department. We created a vibrant and engaging environment for students and faculty by opening up the space and introducing state-of-the-art technology. The project was the first step in a multi-phase upgrade to Salem State College’s 1895 foundation building, and our innovative approach has laid the groundwork for a more collaborative and forward-thinking institution.

Interpretive Cartographic Design

One of the innovative features of the Salem State College renovation project is the use of an interpretive cartographic floor design. The design is inspired by Salem’s 19th-century trading heritage and the college’s renowned Geography Department. It provides a unique and engaging visual element that encourages intellectual curiosity while connecting students to their surroundings and the local community.

Unleashing Potential

ilsson + Siden Associates, Inc. takes pride in unlocking the potential of every space with which we work. The renovated Sullivan Building is a testament to our commitment to creating engaging and dynamic environments that empower people to grow and achieve their full potential.
