Elevating Tufts University's Hamilton Pool
Nilsson + Siden Associates, Inc., based in Salem, MA, proudly collaborated with Tufts University on the restoration project for Hamilton Pool in Medford, Massachusetts. The 17,500-square-foot facility underwent a comprehensive retrofit due to accumulated moisture and chlorine corrosion affecting the steel support beams and deteriorating wood planking within the building envelope. This initiative also encompassed renovating the men’s locker room and revamping the entire gym complex.
Innovative Solutions for a Refreshed Hamilton Pool
Our team’s design strategy prioritized addressing the pool’s harsh environment by implementing an interior finish surface resistant to corrosion. We opted for an innovative system comprising aluminum box trusses, fiberglass panels, and translucent insulation, strengthened by an aluminum grid for durability. Furthermore, a state-of-the-art ducted ventilation system was installed to expel humid air and regulate fresh air intake based on external conditions.
